Casimir Effect
Electromagnetic fields - spontaneously popping into existence! Possibly, emergent shaping forces? Perhaps, affecting AI models? Supposed empty space is not so empty. The Casimir Effect reveals how supposed empty space, is non-empty, as electomagnetic fields are popping into existence and perhaps photons - if they really exist. Force and energy are reorganised into allowed forms.
"According to the concepts of modern Physics, vacuum is not really an empty space devoid of any material existence. It is filled with electromagnetic waves of varying wavelengths having a substantial amount of energy associated with them." - sciencefacts.net "If we go by the postulates of the quantum theory, vacuum space is filled with virtual particles or photons which are continuously and quickly switching between existent and non-existent states." - sciencefacts.net "The Casimir effect is a small attractive force that acts between two close parallel uncharged conducting plates. The force arises due to the quantum fluctuation of the electromagnetic field." - byjus.com Casimir Effect sciencefacts.net Casimir Effect byjus.com ---------- Zero Point Energy Wikipedia extracts (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy) ----- The idea that "empty" space can have an intrinsic energy associated with it, and that there is no such thing as a "true vacuum" is seemingly unintuitive. ----- A vacuum can be viewed not as empty space but as the combination of all zero-point fields. In quantum field theory this combination of fields is called the vacuum state, and its associated zero-point energy is called the vacuum energy. ----- All quantum mechanical systems undergo fluctuations even in their ground state, a consequence of their wave-like nature. ----- ZERO-POINT ENERGY (ZPE) is the lowest possible energy that a quantum mechanical system may have. Unlike in classical mechanics, quantum systems constantly fluctuate in their lowest energy state as described by the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. ----- the idea that empty space, or the vacuum, could have some intrinsic energy associated with it had returned, with Einstein stating in 1920: There is a weighty argument to be adduced in favour of the aether hypothesis. To deny the aether is ultimately to assume that empty space has no physical qualities whatever. The fundamental facts of mechanics do not harmonize with this view ... according to the general theory of relativity space is endowed with physical qualities; in this sense, therefore, there exists an aether. According to the general theory of relativity space without aether is unthinkable; for in such space there not only would be no propagation of light, but also no possibility of existence for standards of space and time (measuring-rods and clocks), nor therefore any space-time intervals in the physical sense. But this aether may not be thought of as endowed with the quality characteristic of ponderable media, as consisting of parts which may be tracked through time. The idea of motion may not be applied to it. ---------- Aether and the Theory of Relativity by Albert Einstein aetherometry.com |
